How can you actually think this is a bad record?

If you love music & you feel the elements that this record consists of aren't quite fitting to that ideology, then it follows that you may view this as a bad record.

I mean, I guess, but.

Idk I don't wanna be accusatory but it seems like response to the avg of the album and critical praise. I doubt there would he a reason to adamantly dislike this album as much low as it's possible to rate if it were found through digging the deepest parts of the web and was otherwise unknown

Terribly constructed sentences sorry and again I'm not saying this is the case asdfg but it's just hard not to think it's a huge factor. Maybe I'm just narrow minded

I'll allude to it, but I will refrain from outright saying it. Also doesn't apply to you cause a 3 doesn't equal dislike

It's obviously me unable to grasp what makes this thing actually bad to someone, like ugh

I don't get it either, Space. To each their own.

Maybe they'll reconsider after viewing this: https://youtu.be/7iYH8QZ1mGg?t=39s

My giving it a 3 sure seemed to rustle some jimmies regardless.

To me, it's just OK for what it is. I like more of the chord progressions in the middle and end of the album but the first third of it is underwhelming. Too underwhelming in order for me to consider it anything other than a sonic novelty as far as its influence goes. If anything, I'd consider this a downgrade from their debut and their EPs.

Also, this isn't the harshest I've been towards an album that is damn near universally praised. I've given albums like Slaughter of the Soul more shit for being a total gutting of the band's original (and more interesting) sound in favor of something that is more bland.

I at least recognize what Kevin Shields was going for here.

It's cool dude, you don't need to explain yourself. This is my all-time favorite album ever, so it's always a little jarring initially when discovering others feel differently towards it.

@Casavir I feel like the sonic novelty is what makes the album so interesting. It's hard to find something that has the density of interesting textures like this does
