alright here's a conversational piece: do you all think Voyeurist will be better than this? all the singles seem to hint at it, except maybe the one with the Ghostemane feature and even then he fits pretty well to me
|
| |
that Ghostmane track was significantly better than I expected honestly

ya it was just one of those things that even i sat down and thought "this is gonna suck" and then it didn't suck
|
| |
didn't blow me away but I nodded along with it, it's solid
Voyeurist will probably definitely be better but I could see some moments where they dig their heels in as far as the things about this album most don't like
|
| |
not sure why the ghostemane feature even has people up in arms, he's always been a very metal-adjacent artist and they are both from florida

eh, i expected it to be bad because more or less all the work i heard of his was horrible

voyeurist will be better but i still kinda doubt itll get higher than like a 3 for me. hallelujah is pretty bad but its still better than like half of this (not hard to do bc of all of the bottom of the barrel buttrock songs here). the other three are all pretty good but nothing outstanding and the prod has been consistently awful on everything
|
| |
yeah i was very let down by Hallelujah, i think being very optimistic it could maybe ride the waves of nostalgia and reach a 3.5 if Hallelujah is the worst track but i highly doubt that is the case lol

The production on Cycle made me think my ears were stuffy. It's not good
The song sounds like a Disambig b side

hallelujah honestly isnt my least favorite here, i didnt hate cycles (it overdelivered to me) but out of the 4 that's my least fav single, i kinda expected cycles to be the low point
|
| |
i've actually only checked cycles and hallelujah, will have to peep the others

my ranking personally: pneumonia > hallelujah (dont see how people aren't hearing the 2008 LITSOS influence in all but the structure) > damn excuses > cycles
|
| |
hallelujah isn't even like BAD but I thought it was really boring and tried too hard

I just went back a few pages to read the venin saga and that was the most entertainment I've gotten out of sput in quite a while. Bravo, sputpeeps.

can you not honestly, thought we moved on
anyways i wouldn't call it boring, it gave me a vibe that says "Underoath really is turning back the clock."
|
| |
yeah that's unnecessary lol we're onto greener pastures, get a hobby
i'll check Hallelujah again when i listen to the other 2 i haven't heard yet

tbh i think i will always have a soft spot for this album, maybe not the most consistent but it's a vibe most of the way through and most of all it wasn't too much to take in like the others were at first, they had to grow on me to become some of my all time favorites tbh. also bonus points for the domino effect it had on getting me deeper into, in particular, converge and glassjaw.

i saw them live w/BMTH about a year before this was released and as soon as they announced an album, i knew it would sound like this
pretty lame they became followers but that's just my opinion
