Into the Painted Grey came on while I was in the shower this morning and reminded me of how awesome this album is.. and it's supposed to rain all day, so probably a good day to binge on some Agalloch.

Nah it's pretty good bloc, just different. I do still prefer their 3 before this (to varying degrees).
|
| |
I just got bored listening to this. The first 3 are awesome though yeah, with the debut being my easy fav.

It's all about Ashes for me. Great band though, either way.

I've tried to like it more, and at the end of the day there are a handful of tracks I enjoy, but I personally don't think it is an essential LP of theirs.

It's not essential but it is still really good.

My rating is probably too high for this, but they’re one of my favorite bands and some parts of this are incredible, especially Black Lake and the soft sections of Ghosts. Interestingly, this has more light sections of ambient, drone, and post-rock than any of their other full-lengths besides The Mantle, I realized a little while ago.

at the very least it's very solid melodic black metal.
