TOSC has nothing on the next three. Seriously boring songwriting in comparison. If you prefer catchy melodies to diverse and non-linear song structures that’s fine tho

Disagreed. It’s def more amateurish but it’s the catchiest album they’ve ever done imo.

I loved Cries of the Past, Act of Depression, and The Changing of Times back in the day. Act of Depression definitely isn’t very good though

Each one was an improvement on the last, and I think TCOT was their first great album.

'Each one was an improvement on the last, and I think TCOT was their first great album.'
I can get behind this, but I got into them through that album via a AMV with 'When The Sun Sleeps' as the soundtrack aha.
TOCS might be more simple in it's song structure to the 3 albums that followed it, but it's by far the catchiest thing they've ever done. Also it has by far the best interplay of all the different elements to the band that the others don't quite have the same and makes it their album that feels more like it's forever fresh when listening to it some 13 years down the line compared to the others IMO.
