he said rap specifically, I don’t think white people should not be allowed to rap along on stage to a song by a black rapper but if that song pertains specifically to a racial issue or contains the n word that white person is gonna look stupid rapping along to it and it’s gonna be a painful experience for everybody lol

"There's a power dynamic at play too; you've got a giant of the recording industry, arguably the most influential black recording artist at that point in time, at least in terms of mass appeal, inviting a white fan onstage, where the world is now watching (because anyone could record it, as they did), into a moral gray area where she wasn't sure what was right or wrong, or what she should do under the circumstance (I'm making an assumption here, I'll admit).
She made what was probably a bad call, but it was a situation that could have been avoided entirely, to Caliggy's point. Has nothing to do with two races being on stage at the same time, and more to do with inviting a volatile situation."
Fucking nailed it. Again.

"I didn't say that I said white people shouldn't be invited on stage at concerts to recite songs by POC. That's a very specific circumstance."

Or jesus christ, call her up during a more appropriate song, fuck. @Colton, exactly

"Because Rap uses the N-word far more than any other genre, which is where the main issue arises. Also the style divide between White Rap and Black Rap is much wider than the divide between White Pop and Black Pop."
The biggest group of consumers of "black rap" are white people as well (which is logical of course, as there are more white people in america and lets not talk about Europe etc.) Instead of seeing that as an opportunity for unity you want to racially segregate.

And Colton if that’s true, wouldn’t you say the whole Kendrick situation boils down to something that was going to inevitably happen anyway, so exclusively blaming Kendrick is dumb as shit?
|

Like I really think people are mad that Kendrick brought a white girl on stage, in general.
|

Which is fucked.

The people that got mad were other white people at the concert and then after that on twitter. That's the irony lmao

the issue is that he got mad at her for saying a word in the song after he invited her on stage to do just that, nobody with a brain gives a shit about him inviting a white chick on stage

Kendrick didn't get mad. Kendrick didn't give a single fuck until the white people at that concert started booing. He read the room and then corrected her. That's all there is to it.

Look at the response to that Kendrick video and show me where the "unity" is. We're living in a time in America where race relations are at an all time low. Talks of cultural appropriation, microaggressions, and privilege dominate the landscape. Right now, we are in a volatile situation where shit like that video can set off a powder keg. Many POC don't agree with you, I've talked to people who would even go farther and consider stuff like that video "blackface" (I'm not kidding). When shit dies down, then we can talk about White folk gettin on stage for songs like that, but now is not the time for us White people to start inserting ourselves willy nilly regardless of the consequences.

Anyone would’ve done what Kenny did in that specific circumstance.

Like I said a couple pages ago what he did is tops a 2/10 on the “he did a bad thing” scale, but all ur white knights on both sides want to make it into a statement.
