It's really simple most of the time and I like it that way. If it was just a bit more complex, it would take away from the mellowed out feel of most of their music.

Agreed on Mason, it'd be like switching Ozzy for Plant on Sabbath. Even if Plant was the better vocalist, there's no way he would've suited the Sabbath sound.



But I love band comparisons, since it spices up discussions a bit.



I need to jam Yes more, but can't say I'm a fan of Anderson's vox.

the thing with floyd is that they were never over-the-top virtuoso wank. they were perfectly understated and perfectly in sync, with each member doing exactly what was needed for that particular song, and never any more.

Out of the British Big 5 they're prob my fave. Although Genesis might be a very close second.



Also of note is the genius concept behind each of Floyd's "Big 3". They just knew what they wanted with each record and how they wanted it. Just sheer genius.
