I'm not insulting you or your intellect; I just think that it is really stupid for someone to care so much about an album he openly despises. I'm not defending Kanye; his lyrics, image, or music. I came here just to say "So Apalled" was an interesting / good song in my opinion, why are you so pist-off? Calm down man, KRS One is excellent but not everyone can agree with you, okay? These lyrics are really good in my opinion:
How should I begin this? I'm just so offended How am I even mentioned by all these fuckin' beginners? I'm so appalled, I might buy the mall Just to show niggas how much more I have installed
I'm fresher than you all, so I don't have to pause All of y'all can suck my balls through my drawers Dark Knight feeling, die, you be a hero Or live long enough to see yourself become a villain
I went from the favorite to the most hated But would you rather be underpaid or overrated? Moral victories is for minor league coaches And 'Ye already told you we major, you cockroaches
Show me where the boats is, Ferrari Testarossa's The Hammer went and broke so you know I'm more focused I lost thirty mil' so I spent another thirty 'Cause unlike hammer thirty million can't hurt me
Fucking insane, the fuck am I saying? Not only am I fly, I'm fucking not playing All these little bitches too big for they britches Burning their little bridges, fucking ridiculous
Success is what you make it, take it how it come A half a mil' in twenties like a billion where I'm from An arrogant drug dealer, the legend I've become CNN said I'll be dead by twenty-one
Blackjack, I just pulled an ace You looking at the king in his face Everything I dream, motherfuckers, I'm watching it take shape While to you I'm just a young rich nigga that lacks faith

As obnoxious as our friend Gary might be, I think he makes a fair point.
Kanye doesn't do deep lyrics. His lines are mostly jokes, boasts or burns that range from genius to hit-or-miss to (sometimes) mediocre... the fish stick quote is a good example of the latter.
So he relies in wit and straight-forwardness, which I like, but whenever he so much as tries to be deep I just find that it doesn't suit him.

I think the emotional songs are great in the sense that they do communicate the emotion well, but it's not because his lyrics are actually deep. Maybe he uses metaphor a lot but he's always straight-forward. And the fact that he loves to shamelessly plug himself in every chance he gets actually take away from the emotional songs. I.e. Roses:
I asked the nurse "did you do the research?"
She ask me, "can you sign some t-shirts?"
I'm not saying I don't love his music, but he's flawed in the flow and deep lyricism department.
