The lyrics on "City Middle" are some of my favorites from Matt, and I adore the way the song gradually builds emotion without really building any volume at all. Super subtle, perfectly executed.
My least favorite song on their big four would have to be either "Looking for Astronauts" or "Squalor Victoria." They both have some quality Berninger lyrics (though nary a National song doesn't) and the drumming in the latter is very strong, but otherwise both tunes kinda just glide in one ear and out the other for me.
