Most of this album is pretty amazing and has some of their best songs. I really like how they were able to continue experimenting and finding new sounds to explore. The only flaws are a little too much filler, like what The Trial ended up being, and a whole lot too much of Roger Waters singing lol

That pretty much explains why it is considered a successful album, it's prog yes, but the songs are so short that you can't tell the variations in the song structures.

This thing is timeless, a true classic. Yeah it’s over the top and at times completely ridiculous but the message never wanes and it’s a hell of a message.
