Yeah, Lopez wins by default for me because I really don't care for Heritage and PC. Admittedly also don't care about Damnation, Watershed, and their debut.

Think I'll try writing a review for this album, I don't agree with a lot of this flagged review. Plus I'd like to try getting into the reviewing game anyway.

Most of the reviews are very highly rated, so it can't be that different to theirs. I'd want to see like a 3 review or something just to see what the reviewer says

I mainly want to focus on how the production puts this album at the top, which it doesn't seem to me like many reviews have focused on (hell, this review cited it as a negative). I see what you mean though, a negative critique would be interesting to read.

Production here beats BWP and Deliverance, that's for sure. And it rules in general, too.

This is the best production they've had on any of their albums.

and yeah Hawks I love how it incorporates that raw Morningrise sound with the SL-BWP song structure

no Ghost Reveries sounds nicer! But this production is perfect for the grim death metal-oriented sound they needed here. Ghost Reveries' perfectly clean/professional production fit the music there just as much as the grime fit this album.

This and GR are so close for my fav Opeth, but I'd pick this if I had to choose between the two.

Morningrise has the best production imo.

It's rawer, it has a jazz-kit for the drums, the fretless bass is audible throughout the record, Akerfeldt's vocals are wicked as all hell. If this record had a production like Morningrise's, it'd be absolutely insane.

Morningrise sounds a bit too demo like for me, GR is my favourite and this has better production than BWP and Still Life imo
