This wasn't the first tech death album though. Tech death was created in the early 90s and has some rooting in the tech thrash of the late 80s.

"kickstarting an entire subgenre " Techdeath was already "kickstarted" before them though. As far as I know this album only influenced a small portion of tech death until recently. Most tech death bands are a product of Nile and Necrophagist.

Yeah, the dissodeath sound that's doing the rounds at the moment owes a huge amount to albums like this, Nespithe, Written in Waters and The Work Which Transforms God. And of those, this was definitely the most ground-breaking musically.

"dissodeath" is such a small portion of tech death though. But yes tech death wouldn't be the same.

"One of the most innovative DM albums of all time which single-handedly shed light on a vast array of tonal applications in genre is "pointless" lol right'o"
Yes, it's innovative. That's fine. It doesn't change the fact that it's boring though. There's a couple good moments, but not a lot. I could be innovative and record myself taking two-flush mega shits after egg and cheese omelettes. There needs to be more criteria for determining how an album is good.

"record myself taking two-flush mega shits after egg and cheese omelettes"
That's a pretty good description of the two Decapitated albums you think are better than this.

I understand the importance of this historically but i actually dont enjoy a lot of it either. makes my head hurt by the end
reminds me of chaosphere, some good licks with bad pacing

Who’s going to decide what makes an album good? Clearly you’re in the minority of death metal fans around here that don’t find this album enjoyable or engaging, which is fine but it’s not like there’s a strict criteria for what passes as good when so many bands do so many different things and so many people like so many different things.

The vocals are weak as well. It sounded like Luc or whoever was singing went into the studio ill
|

This album has the least-weak vocals ever recorded
Steeve sounds like a violently wild beast

also so many wrong takes on the origins of tech death and dissonance on the previous page goddamn
the 80s existed BEFORE the 90s, guys
EDIT: just for reference, the beginning was always and always has been VOIVOD
