I remember commenting here when "We Love You" released thinking this band had made their own LuLu album. But it really is an impressive almost avant-garde type of record. Definitely come back to it with an open mind down the road. Biggest mistake you can make is trying to compare it to old A7X. It's a sharp 90-degree departure from what you're used to.

>I think I had a similar experience with Asymmetry by Karnivool, completed the listen on the first try but it took a few years to click.

i feel like The Stage was such a good mix of old and new so people have that!! they go off the deep end once and so many people are simply writing it off because it's different. some of my biggest a7x friends just wont listen to it cuz they aren't interested and im like ughhh but it's kinda their best lmao

“ band is to metal as good charlotte is to punk”

This is fair and gave me a laugh. I’d say A7X is slightly more metal than good Charolette is punk.

Love

We loved so many times

And in so many lives

Sometimes we got it right

yep. As a lifelong A7X fan, as someone who’s been listening to them since I actually got into music at like 12 (so like right before Nightmare), it is without a doubt their best album.

never in a million years did I think they could top Waking the Fallen but this is absolutely their crowning achievement. Cosmic, Mattel, Nobody, and the GOD trilogy are some of their best songs ever. And the t/t is so lovely. Syn is so insanely talented.

From all that was before

We shut another door

but not a last goodbye

Taken once again

A fight we'll never win

and time again, we try

I don’t really believe in an afterlife but god that song gets me so emotional. Managing to make something so thought provoking, beautiful, epic, AND a ripping guitar solo? And it’s truly wild that their use of autotune here is so tasteful. If you had asked me what i would think about “Lost” style of autotune in a new A7X record I would tell you to get the fuck outta here, but god it’s just so well done. Easier’s chorus is so soothing, Cosmic’s use of it is just otherworldly, and Ordinary is metal daft punk in the best way.

Ive said it before, but to me Life is But a Dream feels like the self titled if the self titled was actually good. They’ve matured, they didn’t get cold feet with their experimentation and make some half measure bullshit. They dove in head first and made something incredible. I really really hope we get at least one more album.

Good for you lol. They played in Poland only twice in the last 10 years so I'll probably have to wait a little before I have a chance to see them.

"Ive said it before, but to me Life is But a Dream feels like the self titled if the self titled was actually good."

I've seen the self titled as a precursor for LIBAD for a while. With a note that the experimentation there feels like the "random bullshit go!" type and here it feels organic (and is free of overdramatic whining in the vein of Dear God and Gunslinger).

Wholeheartedly agree. Self titled feels like a bunch of dumb kids experimenting with their sound. LIBAD feels like they’ve matured so much and swung for the fences. And they hit a fucking home run.

And nice Titan! I’ll probably wait for the tour to get closer and see if I can cop some seats for cheap. I also wanna see the setlist, I don’t normally like knowing what bands are playing but if it’s a co headliner I don’t wanna waste my money just to see them play for an hour. But from what I can see it looks like it’s *just* the two bands so hopefully we get a full set from these boys

I'm genuinely curious whether LIBAD glazers also love their new single "Magic", which is so laughably bad it seems like some type of Meta-shitpost to see how far they can strain their defenders to cover for their new shitty musical direction.

I like this album a lot even if it is very flawed but Magic is just straight up bad.

This album's peak A7x but Magic is pointless.

I still think Nightmare is their best album but I am heavily biased there. Cosmic is indeed peak A7X though.

Nightmare's the close second for me. It was my gateway to the band and Save Me is probably their single best song.

Nightmare was my proper gateway in the metal genre so I struggle to not love it. Technically it was The Sickness by Disturbed but I choose to ignore that.

I gotta go with this, then Waking the Fallen, then it’s a toss up between Nightmare and The Stage. My biggest problem with The Stage, ironically, is the biggest positive for Nightmare, their closing songs. Save Me is a fuckin masterpiece but Exist just feels like shreddy nonsense until we get to the actual good part of the song, where it slows down and the vocals come in, I gotta say I like the acoustic rendition they did, and when they played it live they only did that part. And the outro with Tyson tried so hard to be thought provoking but it just came across as pretentious.

This record though, front to back goddamn it’s near flawless.

I loved this album, but Magic was stinky and dull.
