"Sorry, I thought the point of this site was to discuss music and share opinions with other users"
sounded like you were bating for some justification, in which case there are plenty of well-written (and some not so much) stances on it. the way you worded your question didn't really make anyone feel compelled to engage you thoughtfully

I really dig a lot of rap, though I have approached it mainly by singles, actually this is the first hip-hop/rap album I listen in full, but that doesn't mean I don't like the genre. It could be said that I don't know to much about it, but I've always have affinity towards it and I really enjoy it. Ratings don't reflect the musical background one person has in my opinion. I've listened way more records than the 307 I've rated here.

Sorry about that man, I was really underwhelmed after listening this whole thing, and I typed it as soon as I finished spinning this.

besides, it's pretty fundamental disagreements imo, and none of us actually has this at more than a 4.0 so we're not the ones you wanna talk with ¯_(ツ)_/¯
|
| |
how can you really enjoy it if this is the only rap album you've heard in full?
|

he digs the singles, already said that. not the ideal but yea

Is this the common denominator of all Rap records, are the singles totally different than the rest of tracks? As I've stated I don't know that much about the genre, but I will totally love to get into it. As I dig lots of singles I've heard over the years.

A 4.0 is a high rating for me, in my opinion you need to dig something very much to give it a 4.0 or higher.

a whole, cohesive piece of work =/= one of its constituents. I thought that was p. obvious, especially on this site

So a 4.0 counts as "hyperbolic acclaim"? Am I not allowed to like this or what? I thought you talked about the huge amount of 5.0s...

Of course you can like whatever you want, who's suggesting that you can't? By that statement I was mainly referring to the fact that a person that gives this a 4.0 is an equally interesting opinion for me than one that gives it a 5.0, in terms of me wanting to know in a respectful way what they enjoyed about this, iso I can maybe give this another try, based on that feedback, but I don't get what's the relation between what I wrote and you becoming offended about it, keep calm bro. The only thing I wanted was a calmed interaction with people who dug this and to see why they liked it, nothing more, nothing less.

Context is pretty important when approaching this album's concept
no one thinks talking about racial issues is new but Kendrick is probably the biggest rapper (and also probably the first afaik) to address the increasing racial tensions in the us for the past 4-5 years
