Holy shit a remastered compilation of the band's demos comes out Feb 10th and I had no idea

Sean Reinert claimed that the band broke up and wrote this big long status about it but the other members were like yea we don't know what the fuck he's talking about so we'll try to find a replacement drummer for the upcoming tour, that's the last I heard tho

Yeah, there was a big blowup and apparently Reinert changed the password to all the email accounts and FB page and stuff. Massive unexpected dick move. Masvidal and Malone are soldiering on though.

One of India's biggest bands had a similar situation where the guitarist, bassist and drummer (3/4 of the band) all decided they'd had enough of the lead singer's shit and quit via facebook post and announced their new band, which was how the singer found out about it. It was both childish and hilarious.

Cynic was even worse because Reinert decided by himself that the band was over, without telling anyone else, and then locked everyone else out. It almost seemed like the guy was having a breakdown of some sort because of how random and unexpected it was, especially after the band had been together for twenty years more or less with little visible friction.
