ngl thinking this is better than Rust in Peace is even more insane than me thinking it’s mid
I never really got into Slayer as much, Anthrax either. I think there’s a number of 80’s thrash bands that are better than both. Death Angel is better than both tbh

I'd take this band's first 5 albums over any Megadeth album tbh.

I've never had any desire to return to any Megadeth album in about 15 years tbh lmao. They've just never done it for me.

shit is Voivod really considered thrash? That’s the best old school thrash band ez
And ya hawks I guess slayer is to me what Megadeth is to you then. I’ve never gotten the hype with these guys outside of a few killer tracks

idk how someone like you can dig so much early metalcore but not dig this. half those riffs are plagiarized from this!

Yep, sounds like that is indeed the case.

never got into early hardcore but i def should considering how influential it was. crossover thrash too. need to jam more of that. slayer riffs just go so hard man.

I'm no expert on crossover thrash, but Suicidal Tendencies' debut is essential.

A lot of my appreciation for more traditional/old school hardcore came from going to local shows. There's just an energy it brings out that you can't get anywhere else. It's also one of those genres where you don't need to be the most technical/musically proficient to make some kick ass tunes

“converge owe their early career and rise to this album”
Pretty sure Kurt literally would admit that lmao, yeah idk man. There’s a lot of solid riffs but the solos just ain’t it. I really don’t think I’ve ever heard a Slayer solo and went “fuck yeah”. Also any time they varied it up it went over like a lead balloon… the band isn’t very versatile either imo
But I mean look how many people love them, what the fuck do I know. I still like a bunch of their songs but I could not do a discog run for these guys, I’d tap out before I even finished Hell Awaits

i love kerry king's schizophrenic nightmare solos. fits this album so well. just pure cacophony of noise and chaos.
