i would've loved to be a fly on the wall in the cod boardroom when they heard magic for the first time lmao. certainly can't say they don't give the band full creative control

Well given the quality of the franchise at this point I can earnestly say Magic is probably the best part of the game

I genuinely hate magic. Assaults my ears in a bad way

Why do they insist on touring with the shittiest bands possible? Fucking Good Charlotte? Jesus H Christ.

Yeah I was bummed to see that. I’m all for a weird bill of two very different bands, but Good Charolette hasn’t made a good album in decades

Aren't they like pop rock lol

They are pop-pop-“punk”. Their sophomore album from ~2003 had some bangers: lifestyles of the rich and famous, boys & girls, the anthem. Not aware of literally anything they have done for the next 20+ years
Update: figured out this bill a bit.. in 2007 Good Charolette had a single featuring Shadows and Gates lol

They are best friends too. Also best friends with Fozzy/Chris Jericho.

Their collab was a huge single as well. Very popular.

I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it and I was an A7X fan back when it came out. Would have probably eaten it up at the time.

Magic kicks ass. Hope they keep experimenting.

The production is admittedly pretty fuckin bad but it’s really grown on me, and very good lyrically tbh… that said anyone who’s even a little sour on Matt’s vocals will fucking hate it, he really went for it with that one.
I’d like to throw it on this record somewhere and the only place it really fits imo is right behind Easier. I still don’t love this record closing with the GOD trilogy, Cosmic is my favorite track they’ve ever written and I think it would work better as a closer, aside from the t/t ofc

Sowing I would really recommend trying to catch them live if you can, they are seriously one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. Even on the HttK tour, while having a weak ass setlist, they still out on a phenomenal show. And they’re really good about playing tracks off this. They played Game Over, Mattel, Nobody, We Love You, and Cosmic the last time I saw them headline, and the time before that they played all of those but with GOD instead of Cosmic

I think I had a similar experience with Asymmetry by Karnivool, completed the listen on the first try but it took a few years to click.
But man, just wait for Cosmic. The second half is a fucking headache.
