Their s/t is still their best to me. They damn near perfected the blend of their harrowing, dissonant guitar work, Alexis' talk-sing vocals, and some added heaviness to boot. It just feels so much more dynamic and varied compared to this.

I think it just depends on what sound your looking for out of these guys. For me I’d say hell songs > S/T > this.

S/T > Hell Songs > this >>>>>>> Canada songs

Yeah, this is my favorite of theirs too, but certainly doesn’t have the “fun” of their self-titles or the off-the-wall intensity Hell Songs got. This just such an uncomfortable sinister sense of wrongness on here that’s unique in their discog and music as a whole, really, least from what I’ve heard.
It’s like existing on the edge of something about to snap, and not quite knowing if it’s founded and you should start running, or paranoia, and you yourself are the thing that’s slipping. Unreal record.

My sentiments exactly porc. That sort of atmosphere is perfectly exemplified in a song like The Guest House.

Guest House is handily the best track on here

Well, I love the harsh abrasiveness of City Song or the looming terror of Satan in the Wait equally as much as The Guest House though. I'm sure I have other favs but I haven't bumped this in a while so it's not fresh.

Outro of Ocean Song is absolutely massive. Seeing it live gets cataclysmic

I almost drove to go see them in North Carolina but my road trip buddy flaked cause her roommate went to the hospital. Ugh, get your priorities straight.

Yea ocean song is my favorite here, love the buildup throughout the song.

almost saw them in NC too lol, forget why i didnt but i was bummed

Way these blokes tour when they’re not at each other’s throats is relentless, imagine they’ll be on the road minute they’re able (think Lex has mellowed out a bit too, at least as far as confrontational rages go so imagine they won’t really implode again).
Can not wait. Some of the best shows I’ve seen. People ought to show some respect to Daughters and simply stay healthy.

Lol I definitely wasn't serious about the priorities bit, just for clarity. I'll love to see these guys live just as soon as I can. So they have a lot of infighting? I guess I could definitely see Lex being a volatile character in person to person interactions. He did just pull his dick out on stage once. It's just on YouTube lmao. He dipped when he heard someone called the cops. Hahahaha

Definitely just assumed you were utterly vindictive, wishing death and calamity at the *slightest* of inconveniences! And how! (lol)
And he definitely used to be, their break up the first time around was not a cordial parting of the ways. But he seems to be a lot more settled nowadays (and also probably dating Lingua Ignota?)
|
| |
gonna give this another shot
|
| |
Bon voyage, hope to see you in the fray in short order
|

He was also releasing a solo album soon (or is it out already?) so that might be worth checking.
Is he for real dating Kristin Hayter? That would be an explosive combination.

Dude, if they ever had a shouting match, it'd be fucking terrifying lmao

nah the solo album probably won't be out until next year at this rate, releasing through Sargent House.

Wasn't he married with kids and shit? In any case, I hope he's happy, cuz the music he makes sure is not
