I also hear a pretty strong King's X influence. Think like "The Difference" or "Out of the Silent Planet" when on like River or Voice of Treason there's acoustic picking or middle eastern feel and Mikael starts singing with those high harmonies.

On my first listen, is Goblin an instrumental? It's 2/3 over and there's been no singing so far...

This album is so cool, parts of it don't even sound like Opeth and it's so much more interactive and emotional than this. 4.5 so far

It's clearly very proggy and I also really like the experimentation on it.

I agree, I have to admit that I lost my patience though.

Buying it when it's out anyway.

Oh and, nice dig Captain.

As someone who's not big on this one Choccy you'll either love PC or feel the same as you do for this. Probably the former though cause PC is way more emotional and engaging and different

I had problems with my internet connection and then, for just half an hour, there it was... the opportunity I was looking for... Now I jam it all day.

I am not sure if the second half is the best one, tho I like both equally... Sun/Moon is excellent.

Cusp and Elysian are the weakest[2]

Voice of Treason seems a bit odd and have to listen it a bit more...

Faith in Others is one of their greatest closers, indeed. Reminds me a lot of sth from a Storm Corrossion record...

All in all, the album is a 4 for me atm. When is it possible to submit reviews? Haven't written anything yet (how could I?) but I intend to...

Sounds much better so far, but I don't think I like it as much as you guys just yet. I'd say about 3.5-4 right now and it's definitely a grower. Some of it doesn't even sound like Opeth at all

Cusp is the weakest here, but I still like that very much.

I don't agree on Elysian being a weak track.

Overall, I really, really like this album, they did it again.

thanks mate, hopefully I'll share the love for your dig too once I get around to listening to it''

It's really worth it, make sure to give it a couple listens to see what you think.

I still need to give The Road of Bones a couple more listens, I like that record anyway.

Oh, that's good... I have time to write sth decent. I was really afraid that reviews were going to flood Sputnik and mine would be lost among them....
