I've always enjoyed Mein too. Definitely not my favorite on the album, but it is an enjoyable song.

I kinda like Pink Cellphone up until 3:55.

Just finished Pink Cellphone, it's not as bad as everyone says it is but is way too long. Maybe if it was half the length and w/o the voiceover it'd be a decent electronica interlude idk

@TalonsOfFire i think the clean version just cuts out the end of the song.

My second fav of theirs so far after Diamond Eyes, stoked to jam the next record and for Gore to come out too.

That might very well be true, this band's evolution is incredible.

Indeed, they mature and evolve quite nicely. Sadly this record does reflect the near break up state the band was in at the time.

I'm curious what that unreleased album would've sounded like

It has their heaviest and darkest riff to date. Shame they'll prob always say that they're not in a state to release it and are 'moving forward' with a new record. Makes me loathe the phrase 'move/ing on' even more.

But yeah, that riff is evil af. A slow and monstrous down-tuned 8-string chug with dissonant open strings. That and a post-rock inspired soundbite is what I've heard and that's really enough to make me excited about a potential release.

"s/t isn't the best Tones album I just compare it to SNW a lot because it's post-White Pony but pre-Diamond Eyes, which are clearly different eras of Deftones"

those two albums are possibly the most different in their career tho

one of the "dirtiest" & most varied albums, their last with terry date vs. a pretty cohesive-sounding record, new production team, weirdest album (for them)

it probably woulda made more sense with eros, but, you know

[2] I want that more than the new album. Wasn't all that impressed with the new single tbh.

I have a strong feeling it's not gonna be a highlight though
