I think I need to give SNW another shot. Lots of users here seem to love it. I bought it when it came out and wasn't into it at all other than a couple songs.

SNW is their best. Hole in the Earth for example is my favorite song by them, and blows me away every time I hear it. The fantastic lyrics help too, and Cherry Waves is top 5 songs of theirs.

Hole in the Earth and Cherry Waves are the only songs I remember from it- I mean I remember the one about greasy butt-fucking but that's not a memory I'm fond of. I have weird taste in deftones, I think.
Mostly really love S/T, Around the Fur and KNY and have mixed feelings toward the rest of the albums.

I don't see either WP or DE being their best so I also have weird taste in Deftones compared to most of the fanbase. SNW is their most diverse and dream pop sounding aside from this, so that's part of why some like me consider it their best.

It would probably appeal to me more today than it did back then, tbh. Taste has changed a lot. I really was hoping for something similar to the s/t when it came out too, so I remember being a bit disappointed.

I used to think DE was their best and then it grew off me a bit, but it's still excellent. The s/t is great but sort of a throwback to their earlier sound which I don't care as much about overall. I just want them to continue in the vein of their last few, albeit with better production and mixing than this hopefully. And to release Eros.

i'm sorry but no amount of mixing can fix this for me
all the hooks are weak as shit, and the instrumentation outside of a few tracks feels so recycled to me

I have this on vinyl and it's considerably better in terms of audio quality, still love the living hell out of it.

I have the white 140g first press, and the foil stamped ltd ed. 180g black press, and I can confirm this album sounds a million times better on vinyl. The production is weird as shit, it's so empty and airy, like they wanted a "playing to a completely empty stadium" sound, but on vinyl it sounds much more condensed, plus the shimmering guitars on the opener and Hearts / Wires sound ethereal as fuck

Damn, it's like $15 over here.. ah hell, why not

It is my firm belief Deftones are best experienced on vinyl, especially their weaker produced albums, Adrenaline sounds so much heavier on vinyl

Absolutely, but I think that the difference is way clearer on this album. Definitely worth picking up on vinyl if you're not into the production. Cuz I initially had this at a 3.5, then I heard it on vinyl.
