"holy strawman, batmensch"
agreed
despite what others say, this is the only floyd album I've really connected to emotionally, everyone has times in their life when they build a wall, and that wall must be destroyed, I find the message of this album important to my life, more than most albums by most artists. and the variety of music on this album and the maturity of each differing style is amazing too
I really don't get hate for this album other than it being overrated compared to other floyd albums, and personally I don't even agree with that

There's no hate for this thing other than spotty nerds who think they know what's what when they don't know nothing. Right!

I don't get how anyone could connect to this emotionally and not dig DSOTM in at least a vaguely similar way. That said, this is totally more emotionally accessible than most Floyd.

There will come a point in every mans life when they'll connect to Floyd, it's inevitable.

"I used to be like that with Dark Side of the Moon before the radio raped it to the point it wasn't enjoyable anymore ):"
Ah man, I'm sorry for you. This works pretty well, but I don't know where I'd be with Floyd if I couldn't jam Us and Them and muse about life haha

You have to be a bit magnanimous with this beast and realise that as an ott, prog concept album about success/isolation nothing comes close.

"I liked Roger's story line. Although I didn't totally agree with it, you've got to let a chap have his vision. I just had a different view of our relationship with our audience than Roger did. Roger didn't like touring. And he felt there was no connection between him and the audience that were in front of him. I had a different view of it; I still do. And my view of what The Wall itself is about is more jaundiced today than it was then. It appears now to be a catalogue of people Roger blames for his own failings in life, a list of "you f***ed me up this way, you f***ed me up that way"." -Gilmour
pretty much sums it up for me

Oh, and this quote from the same interview:
"And sometimes the tunes - the vehicles for the lyrics - got neglected. To me, one of Roger's failings is that sometimes, in his effort to get the words across, he uses a less than perfect vehicle."
