I honestly don't get what the people who don't like this album's problem with its songwriting is. I mean, what more do you want? All the different passages are held together with near-perfect transitions, important parts are repeated, the sound of the music often matches the emotion in its corresponding lyric, etc.

Yeah, you may have a point there. But I mean, if someone were to say something like the songs are "directionless," or something along those lines, that technically wouldn't be true. Because the lyrics for each song tell stories, they all have beginnings, middles, and ends. And riffs are repeated to keep the songs from meandering too much. The songs aren't just "weedly weedly alright we can stop now." That's a fact.

band slays face, thats it. the structure of their music is great, the uniqueness and fun they have is great, and they are flawless live. the only member that doesnt put on any kind of performance is dustie but come on dudes got severe back problems. love what this band does, and i love the whole way the music flows on here and some of the riffs on this album inspired me to pick up a guitar. half assed riffs? not in the slightest.

I still don't get a lot of the hate for this band. I feel like it's just a ruse to get in the face of people who like them. Regardless, I still find this to be one of my favorite albums.

agree with everything in this except the emotional aspect......the band cant really write lyrics for their life and i love them to death. the music however is really astounding, potato i have to disagree with the way you dissected their music. Its funny how all the people who hate wank and shit are just prolly mad they cant do it themselves. what is 'composing a song'? the way their music flows especially on colors sounds like pieces of a puzzle coming together. I agree on other releases the flow of their songs sometimes gets fucked up by a stupid musical letdown but not on here. sun of nothing laughing section? funny and a nice change of pace. Sloppy? all of the instruments are perfect in time with one another and the counterpoint between either both guitars, or one guitar and bass, or even the keys and the guitars are usually stellar and memorable. They can play their instruments like you said, AND they compose stellar music. im actually studying classical currently in college, and ive actually noticed btbam uses a lot of those old style techniques on here; play a melody, play the melody again but alter it, then completely rip the melody apart into something completely different and then possibly revisit the original melody later. they mastered it on here. get over it butthurt fags, you will never possess the talent or musicianship that any member in this band does.
