“ I'll never forget how my jaw dropped listening to this the first time. I love when bands get crazy and shake things up in the most unexpected way, and actually pull it off.”
When looking at music at large, I don’t really think there’s a ton here that is that far out of the box but it is fucking crazy that a band on the level of Avenged Sevenfold did something so left field. I still think Game Over, Mattel, and Beautiful Morning all for the most part could fit snugly on most of their other records but everything else is absolutely insane for not just a mainstream metal band, but one of the biggest metal bands on the planet.
Massive respect to these guys for pulling something like this together

"Anyone else think the interlude in the first song sounds like something out of a disney movie?"
I sometimes pick up on a lot of Danny Elfman-influenced stuff, especially on City of Evil.

The Rev was hardcore into Oingo Boingo so that's probably why

Really love his vocal delivery considering the track’s narrative

They played A Little Piece of Heaven instead of Cosmic to close out last night. Heart breaker.

I know man. The night before got Not Ready to Die too. But we got Chapter Four and Save Me… still think night one was MUCH better setlist wise. Gunslinger and Almost Easy were nice surprises since I’d never heard them live before… I really just completely checked out when I heard that opening orchestral bullshit on ALPOH.
I know it’s a big crowd pleaser but I really wish they’d retire ALPOH. Half the vocals are from a guy that’s been dead for 15 years, Afterlife is a little more forgivable because there’s so much more going on instrumentally (and it’s just a much better song). I truly think they could retire Bat Country at this point.
I think that’s also the first time I’ve seen them where they didn’t play Unholy Confessions. I’ll admit I was rooting hard for Afterlife when they had us choose but that’s like picking a favorite child.

Replace So Far Away with Chapter Four and Buried Alive with Save Me and that’s a perfect setlist imo

hell yeah man! Sorry we didn't get to meet up there, if I am being honest it was a LONG weekend and I was half asleep by the end of system of a down lol
I was rooting hard for Afterlife, such good Rock Band memories with that one. ALPOH SUCKS and I do not understand why it is such a crowd pleaser. Bat Country was a nice little surprise, but I am a sucker for COE so I was just happy to get another song off of it.
What they REALLY need to retire is Hail to the King and Nightmare, but I understand that those are also mega crowd pleasers.
I am just happy they are continuing to play this new album pretty heavily and it is even better and more off the walls live.
Also random thought, they dont play the shitty farting horns on Nobody live! Or at least I didn't hear them at all. Made the song better lol.

No worries bro, we literally left after Lonely Day because I was fucking exhausted and that was the song my GF wanted to see most… I think it was a good move but SOAD was killer too.
Ya they’re never getting rid of Hail to the King, and I think Nightmare is near that level too. But I’d be totally fine with them scrapping both even if they just replace it with something else on those records

Yeah no. The songs here all go in certain directions, there's a ton of hooks here and a sense of actual songwriting. The new one sounds like it was recorded only to test cursed production choices on it.
