Nah the end of Last Time is the best part of this album that isn't on Pink Rabbits

I like it but it does sound a bit consciously 'welcome to the end of Side A, now turn over your cassette and press play'

Slipped and Humiliation sneak just ahead of Pink Rabbits now, though that and Last Time were my initial faves. All top 5 songs on this along with Demons (those faint choral voices on the chorus I'm a sucker for)

Graceless is the song that got me really hooked on these guys so it always holds a special place in at least the top 3 of not just this album but maybe the band imo

I still rate it as my fifth favourite song here so it isn't like I actively dislike the ending

Hey this went up to a 4.1! One day everyone will come to their senses and this'll have a 4.3 like the previous three National albums.

Hard to believe innit?

I'm starting to think I might like this more than Boxer. I would say Boxer is a slightly better album as a whole and has slightly higher highlights, but this is slightly more consistent song for song. If you cut the two or three weakest songs on here (weak being only a relative term of course) I'd say this is definitely better than Boxer. However also I love the immersive length and atmosphere of this one, whereas Boxer is a bit more concise.

High Violet is still definitely better than both though, to my ears.

Boxer will always be my fav national becuase of the angstttttttt and how relatable it is but this is severely underrated. This Is The Last Time is so sick.

Graceless is like the release of all the pressure that had been building up over the previous tracks, such a great song.

Graceless has some of my favorite bass work in a National song.

What is in that taco? It literally looks like something the cats coughed up.

I think Boxer is without a doubt their best album, the conciseness being a big factor in that.
