Getting tickets to their show at the Magic Bag in October but I have concerns that with them performing "new pieces" on tour and their sound changing to a stripped down version I won't get the immense performance of the first time. Im still going to go either way but does anyone know if this will be "massive swans on tour" or like Michael gira fleshing out new tunes with an acoustic guitar and two other people in stage?

Pretty sure they still have their big sound lineup for the next little while with Norman rejoining

I’d think this will be their last tour as big sound Swans.‘I understand your concern considering that’s how the last several albums have been developed

Honestly presuming Gira can stick to his word this time around I think it’s time for a change. It’s been fifteen years with the same sound and I think they’ve taken it everywhere it can go. I’d love to hear them play with Burning World style textures again.

I would love to hear it too but I'm taking my brother who is a swa s virgin and I told him to prepare for the most crippling night of his life ..and if it's just gira sitting down with his acoustic and doing the Johnny Cash thing (which I love) I feel like it would be a considerable over promise, under deliver situation haha

As far as I see it’s a Swans gig, not a Gira & Hahn night, right? If so, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be crushing in the best possible way.

I hated this back in the day, but that was like 13 years ago. I believe it is time to reassess this one.

@uncle - I only listened to Glowing Man once, and it wasn’t really my thing, so I don’t doubt that I wouldn’t really dig anything past that. But yeah, TBK just does a little more for me. Soundtracks for the Blind is still their best.
