First hobbit was horrible.
Felt like a G rated movie.
The movies were never comparable to the books, Jackson just had his entire screenplay written for Lotr and has to actually think of his own scenes for this movie bc he's trying to turn a 300 page book into 3 movies for $$$$$$$$
End result is shit. Doesn't do tolkein justice in the slightest and actually makes the previous Lotr movies seem worse when you realize hey are made by a talentless director who hit the lotto after he copied and pasted Lotr books into a screenplay.

Yeah it is. Admittedly though the movie takes liberties with it, but the novel is generally not really all that great, I don't think

First hobbit was lame as shit, a complete excuse for chase-scenes (where you know no one is gonna die) with 3d effects. That goblin king or whatever at the end was horribly corny. And the dwarfs all look gay, like humans dressed as dwarfs.
the humor was forced and bad and sloppily copy and pasted from the book which only shows jackson didnt understand the tone of the writing in the book. that is not British humor.

just cuz part of your political platform is having a bleeding heart for gay people, doesn't mean
dwarfs can't randomly look feminine and gay in a movie for no reason.
if you read the book it is a legit criticism because dwarfs are supposed to be ancient and manly.
Dwarfs in the hobit looked like they pluck their eyebrows, they look like elves.

minority report, munich (very underrated imo), silence of the lambs, bourne, dances with wolves, no country for old men, all classic films based on books
didn't know Shawshank was a book, i'll have to read it cause that's one of my favorite movies.

probably cos the book has to be good in the first place for it to then be adapted
hard to transfer what made the books so good as well. often doesn't translate well through the two media unless you have someone with the right vision

"Into The Wild and Goodfellas come close"
Into the Wild as a movie was terrible. It just made him look like a clueless hippy who had no idea
what he was really doing and died because of it -oh but we will throw in a made up romance story.
They literally don't even bother to mention that he just mistook a certain, nearly identical, potato
plant for a poisonous root and actually knew a good amount about living in the outdoors,
especially at that point.
I honestly can't believe you picked that as a good example of book into movie...
