Rough call, but I think this is their shining star and it burns so brightly Budgie! (Love Blood Mountain too)
This review is pretty damn lame! It's fancily worded and chock full o' unnecessary description but I can't help but feel the guy is as fake as a two dollar bill. What is with the band comparisons they makes no sense and are just loose associations. Why so many adjectives, who are you trying to impress? Nonsense

there's a subtle irony to his criticism of this as being all show and little substance

Been digging this a lot again lately. This edges out Blood Mountain for me, it was the first Mastodon record I listened to so it has got the nostalgia factor. Looking forward to what Brendan O'Brien brings production wise to the new record.
