Brainy & Slow Show are still major draws (why does the word “highlights” feel so inaccurate), but I think Guest Room may be a new contender. Struck me as the biggest mover on my revisit

I think one track I’ve never thought of as top tier (despite gradual shifts elsewhere) is Apartment Story. Racing might be trending downwards too
Mistaken For Strangers is a bop of an anthemic stand-alone cut, but does feel cumbersome in the track-listing. Fake Empire & Brainy didn’t need it! Very minor gripes.

nah Apartment Story is one of their best songs. Mistaken for Strangers is not a highlight though I agree

Apartment Story always seemed like a poor man's Guest Room to me, even though I like that song
Agreed that Mistaken For Strangers kinda does not really completely work in the context of the album - it's my least favourite cut
Very minor gripes [2] though

apartment story works in this tracklist as a cosy throwback to alligator-era landfill national, but it's far from the best track

how are Guest Room and Apartment Story similar

Was Apartment Story the first instance of Devendorf falling back on his default generic kick-kick-snare-snare beat? Because I’ve got such a bone to pick with him over that.

@Colton they're both relatively upbeat tracks with prominent drums

hmm I don’t really see Guest Room as upbeat but I guess they have some rhythmic similarities. pretty distinct from one another though imo
