True. These days, this is my favorite Death album. I find it to be their most varied songwriting-wise, and I love the jazz touches

Yeah, Andy is killer on that one. Those bass melodies by Steve in the bridge are cool too

Most definitely. Sometimes I jam this one and think it deserves the favorite spot in the Death discog. Such a tough band to rank for me

Yeah, this one finally replaced Symbolic as my favorite. Both are fantastic, but I just love how experimental and adventurous the songwriting is on this one. The jazz elements really put it over the top too

@FR33LORD

What are your recollections of this era? I can’t remember death at all around this time if I’m honest. Nobody I knew listened to them and the metal heads I was aware of certainly weren’t listening to them.

Some of Chuck's craziest riffage on this one, band never even came close to dropping the ball.

@Zak,

At these times, i wasn't into this branch of extreme metal. Same neither of my friends. I was into, big4 thrash bands, prog, rock, fusion jazz.

I've been listening to this album for 29 years now, and I'm finally giving it a 5. It's been a 4.5 for me since day 1 (yes, I know Sputnikmusic.com/org/CreedThoughts.www.co.uk didn't exist when this was released), but this weekend it changed.

I attended DeathFest 2022 here in OKC - a huge Chuck and Death tribute festival held here in my mind and attended solely by me in OKC - and something just pushed it up to the top of the heap. I think it was the public screening in my living room of Death By Metal that just opened my eyes to this album's true status. Also, I fake-gave a motivational speech that really influenced my change in rating. Such an amazing album!

I've 5's to 43% of Death's studio catalog. That's crazy.
