A 4.5 and thinking some of the choruses are boring doesn't seem contradictory to me, the album is really really strong in a lot of other aspects.

I think I have some confusion in my head about how much I like Chino's writing because I heard Deftones' whole discography before Magnetic North, but then once I heard that it kind of immediately brought all my Deftones ratings down by .5 points

All choruses are kind of repetitive right? It's supposed to be the main/solid part that your ear grabs on to. Granted, I think most people on Sput are at least familiar with more atypical song structures but criticizing choruses for repetition seems a little weird.
