I'm not exactly waiting with bated breath. there are plenty of bands more likely to drop a game-changer than latter-day Agalloch is.

They put a statement up on Facebook today that said they're "permanently laying Agalloch to rest" so yeah they're done.

So how do you guys feel with John saying that he was "the main visionary" in a post that was deleted. Sounds like an ego thing was at play here.

He just said he was a visionary if I remember correctly, not the main visionary.

I think John may have a bit of an ego based on everything I've seen and read, but I don't think less of him. He may very will be the main visionary of Agalloch. I don't doubt he is an incredibly creative individual.

So many memories with this band.. It was the only black metal for most of my friends(talk about not tolerating anything outside rap and electronic), and it was something i could listen to all day with my dad. Such a great band it was.

"It was the only black metal for most of my friends(talk about not tolerating anything outside rap and electronic)"

Not tolerating black metal and not tolerating anything outside of rap and electronic are two very different things.

It's easy to see why even the most open minded of music listeners might not tolerate black metal.
