It basically swallows you whole with how pastoral it is. I mean it's so fluid and relaxing and the way the album falls apart and resurfaces and gets all distorted is really intriguing to me, considering much of the loops are affected so much by the tapes's "deaths" that many of the same loops sound completely different (in comparison to its neighbors, of course). As cliche as it sounds, the "sonic textures" and the reverberations and all the feelings it evokes really makes it a classic for me. But I'll admit I once felt the same way you did.

"oh also b4k I saw your favorite artists list....it sucks when a faves list is filled with amazing shit and utter shit"
Well I expected you to like SfFS and MBICR and OF COURSE JOANNA NEWSOM DUH but yeah you have to admit we're nothing alike outside of the post-rock spectrum and we tend to disgree on that a lot, too.

I wouldn't consider this high pitched screaming at all.

anyways i know you can give good descriptions on that shit but i feel like the whole "every of the four takes up the top four of the decade" (or at least iirc thats what you did) is just being dishonest and honoring a great concept but not as great "music" to "listen" to (i know this is all subjective but i feel like nobody actually really loves listening to, say the fucking hour of d|p 1; as compared with other, more listenable music). it's music you can respect and stuff but i dont think anyone enjoys it to the poitn where it's all four at the top of the decade

also the vocals i guess i dont "like" on their own or the style usually

but they do their "job" really well here; at its core lines like "LET THEM EAT SHIT FROM OUR
TREMBLING HANDS" and the way they deliver them, even as people like mj try to overrationalize them
as an "intellectual" point of view, just hit all the right notes

edit: not literally "notes" as in musical notes, but like, you know what i mean. there are certain
parts to this album which send a thrill down your spine that wouldnt have happened without the vocal
style

"I hate Joanna Newsome"
Thus the excessive caps lock and the giant DUH at the end of it.
"pretty high-pitched"
To me, these are high-pitched:

The only part I can agree with you on this part is the whole "Where does this dream end" part. But when I listen to this I often think, wow City of Caterpillar knew how to push you to the edge of your seat and oftentimes I can't even budge out mah chair with this.

D|p 1 is tied with 6 as my favorite track on that whole album so I don't get what you're talking about. I mean, you know when you listen to "Even If You're Never Awake" or "Meaningful Moment..." and you feel all pretty inside. I have that record as a 5 and Loops is that feeling amplified by ten. At least.

Hit all the right notes? I dunno I can't take the vocals on this seriously at all. Drew sounds like more of a cunt than Kathy
