also, if you search 'converge' on google play music, 30 seconds to mars comes up first, and then converge second. it's like google is trying their hardest to get people to kill themselves. such a brilliant method, someone must have paid scientists who spent a decade researching puddle of mudd/nickelback related suicides to come up with that one.

we’ve had this conversation before.

Rolo Tomassi has ONE amazing album, Converge has like four. Rolo definitley put on their big boy pants this year but they still have a ways to go before they can even compare.

My main gripe is with Bannon’s vocals, always has been. There’s very little variation here apart from Grim Heart, Lonewolves, Trophy Scars, and Plauges. He’s just barking into the mic the entire way through.

I have that same issue with Axe to Fall but I think the songwriting is a lot more interesting there.

to the lions is a dope closer, but yeah the second half is kinda whatever. it's good but nothing comes close to the heights of Grim Heart

Oh I know Jacob doesn’t do the clean vocals on that track.

Like don’t get me wrong he’s probably one of my favorite vocalists but I know he can’t sing like that.

i don't have a problem with that because he is honestly not very good at anything else but that barking, but that barking he can do damn well. that's why they use guest vocals so extensively (like on grim heart)

What makes you say that? Haven't jammed Axe to Record in some time but it never stood out as some big oddity amidst their discography.

That's still quite far off. They've stated that basically all songs were written by themselves and that they just had a lot of parts where they could imagine a guest coming in and doing something extra. I think the most non-converge songs from a writers' standpoint are Effigy and Wretched World.
