I am curious to find out how it is but gave their slot to Emma Goldman on the morning commute. Probably a staple of next week's rotation
hang on, I'm reading positive things (might have to pull it forward!)

After my first listen, I think it's the best mclusky album tbh. We'll see how it withstands.

Wild. I never expect much from comebacks. This should be interesting then.

Best mclusky for real. Idk if I should be getting my hopes up like this.

Falco is a lot more energetic with his vocals on it than he's been in ages. And the bass tone itself is a solid +0.5 rating for the album.

Does it miss Albini?

I mean, it is pretty fucking great so far.

ngl the dry ol albini recording treatment didn't do this album's pound store garage rock any favours, but the new one is kinda bringing it so far

okay nvm that was fun while it lasted

lol
yeah there's some decent cuts on the new one, but it may be reaffirming my belief that (as decent as this band is) you're really just better off swerving their LPs entirely and jamming the mcluskyism comp instead
also, FOTL (as always) >

although I'm not entirely sure even mcluskyism would hit the same in the year of our lord 2025, idk kind of a historic bookmark of a band for me
The latest album is a bit one-paced for my liking. Repetitive and low-key redundant-ish at points. Lacks the energy of their peak and the creative variety to carry the more languid mid-tempo grooves. Still, it's certainly erm 'competent'

Which is probably why I liked it, one man's "one-paced" is another man's "focused".
