1000 Shards is the best one hear but not by much. The whole album is great although not as good as their masterpiece Panopticon which of course is my all time favorite album.

it's never taken an album this long to grow on me. had this since it came out, it's always been my least favorite of theirs. prolly listened like 25-30 times, I always liked it, just not as much. just been hearing it way differently the last 4 or 5 times, it's sweet

that's how I am with Oceanic and Panopticon. Panopticon is more nostalgic to me cuz it's the album that really got me into ISIS. but yeah after digesting all of it Oceanic is the best overall.

"i realized that all the metalcore bands i listened to were Christian and gay and that Melodeth is an awful genre and it ruled my life for like half a year."

I've been getting out of that in the past three or so years now, feels so good to be free

lol wow I can't really picture you being that into melodeath and metalcore. funny

how I was for a long time, I was into crap mainstream rock and metal and rap. stuff I was convinced was good but actually sucked. then in college I branched out a little bit and my taste improved, bought Oceanic on a buddy's recommendation, and thought it was boring at first. also bought Panopticon and ITAOT, didn't get into any of them, but held onto them.

years later, I spun Panopticon just for the hell of it, and I loved it and kicked myself for discounting all of it. and now they're probably one of my favorite bands ever, if not my favorite.

so that's my story.

Yeah i went through the same melodeath and metalcore phase as well. I used to listen to rap and pop punk in high school. Then in college, I had a roommate who listened to metalcore/melodeath and I started getting really into that. Thought I was so cool, going to shows and moshing and what not. Then that summer I started looking at different websites/forums online and people were shitting all over my favorite bands, while jerking off to other bands like opeth. I remember listening to opeth/isis/agalloch/meshuggah and just thinking it was the worst thing ever. I was super butthurt for awhile there. I kept going back to it all and at some point everything clicked. Ghost of Perdition and The Moor were two songs that were pivotal to my metalution. Isis took a lot longer than the others, but eventually Panopticon hit me hard.

Many went through that same stage. Im def not into much melodeath/metalcore anymore.

I owe alot to those bands though and still spin the shit sometimes.

Theres obviously some great bands in the genre but theres so many other genres to explore.

"I think drugs have done some good things for us, I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, do me a favor, go home tonight, take all your albums, all your tapes and all your CDs and burn em. Cuz you know what, the musicians that made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years?............... rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreal fucking high on drugs."
