Feel like I listened to this, Ashes of the Wake and Ascendancy fifty times each that year. Then I remember The Oncoming Storm, Shadows are Security and on and on and on lol what a time.

Those were the glory days of metalcore - I remember them well also.

Hell yeah. I still jam all of them. Ascendancy is a borderline 5 for me tbh.

Ascendancy is really good, one of the best Trivium have done.

Tbh I tried really hard to get into this but it never quite had the grip on me AOJB etc did from that era. Good musicianship though!

The album prior is the brother to AOJB during that era

Yeah I dig Art of Balance slightly more (OOB too) but SF unfortunately just always seemed a bit more sterile than a lot of other bands from the era to me.

Maybe they didn’t have as many hooks that stayed like KSE had but they stilll had the muscle

The opening segment on the first track still gets me pumped as hell. Can’t wait to hear what they’re cooking up for their next album.

Exactly. AOJB by KSE is my preferred album if I had to pick between the two but I prefer not to compare. Both albums are legendary in my eyes.

AOJB is otherworldly good. somehow still gets better with age. None of the cringe that every subsequent KSE album has in spades, but all of the kick-ass.

"The album prior is the brother to AOJB during that era"

Those two literally changed my musical trajectory. Spun them endlessly in those days. When TWW came out I kinda left AOB behind but recently have been revisiting it and damn if it doesn't still slay.
