okay so my honest take: Dave is great at writing riffs, but he's not great at arranging songs. a good example is "nightstalkers" which has an insanely heavy main riff, but the vocal cadence is uninspired and the structure of the song is all over the place. but it's more based on his mood and issues outside of music that affect how well he structures his songs.

Dave’s vocals aren’t amazing from a conventional standpoint but they are unique and remind me of that Alice Cooper type snarl that I’ve always found entertaining
I’ve listened to enough thrash I wouldn’t even put Dave in the top 10 worst singers I’ve heard
