Some of the comments on here are absolute wank fodder.

Album is a dud.

Not that there aren't plenty of reasons for whomever (dumb) to not enjoy this album I can't help but feel like a certain few were foaming at the mouth just waiting for it to drop so they could be like YEAH THE GROWLS ARE BACK BUT SO WHAT IT STILL SUCKS

considering the album sounds very much like the last one but with growls, a lukewarm or negative opinion of it is a very appropriate response

I like the album closer, its one of my favourites on the album.

My absolute favourite part though is the real haunting part sung by who i think might be Akerdeldts daughter in paragraph 1

The very eerie freaky way she sings, 'draped in death... the howl...of loooooooreeee'

There's so much to unpack with this wonderfully weird record. Oddly enough, a lot of the random jazzy lane changes remind me of Mr. Bungle's "California". I could totally see Patton doing vocals on an album like this. It's also great to hear glimpses of that old school Opeth ferocity, albeit in a much looser setting. To whoever said this sounds like Opeth's entire discography playing simultaneously, I'd call that pretty accurate. Overall I dig it and look forward to listening more.

Album is a big grower, so many really cool moments on this thing. I kinda see where the criticisms of it being disjointed come from but I think those feelings improve with familiarity.

I love how theatrical this album feels, almost plays like a dark musical.

That synth sound/guitar dive bomb at the three minute mark on part 2 makes me laugh every time.

This deserves an aggregated score of 4 simply for the miraculous recovery of Mike's gutturals. They were in the absolute toilet for over a decade and all of sudden they're almost as strong as ever. Wild.

No idea why they were in the toilet (didn't watch live videos), but I guess studio magic did the miracle then
