Yeah if we’re comparing You Won’t Know to Looks Like Nothing, then LLN looks like nothing

I do enjoy gratitude but the vocals grate on me a bit at times.

@Sowing - you should make a list ranking all their tracks!

@Slex - yeah the climax to Grand Paradise is just perfect. I’ve gotta revisit Albatross

That's tempting Gyro. I might have to do that, but I'll need to do a refresher run on Albatross and Dealer since it's been a few years that I've jammed either in full.

“ Looks Like Nothing and Gratitude kinda stand head and shoulders over the rest of this album, but it’s still solid as a whole”

Hell yeah @YoYo with the perfect take

Maybe I've just been too ingrained in this record listening to it non-stop for like 40+ days, but for me the entire album lives and breathes as one. It's very hard for me to yank specific tracks and hold them up higher than the others. If I had to, it'd probably be some combination of Secret History, Looks Like Nothing, Greyhound, and Hell 99, but every song plays its role here.

For those making BN comparisons, found this on Foxings wiki:

“In October 2014, Foxing supported Brand New on their fall headlining tour, which saw Foxing playing in the largest venues of its career up to that point. Vocalist Conor Murphy credited Brand New lead singer Jesse Lacey for a pivotal motivational speech he gave to the band right before they were set to take the stage on the first tour date. "Right when Jesse said that, something just clicked for us... from that moment on, it became the easiest thing in the world and the most fun thing that we could possibly do," Murphy said”

First time I heard them was around then too except they were plying a tiny basement venue and opening for TWIABP and TTNG. Was such an incredible show. Almost feels like a different band at this point though

Oh yeah. Comparing this album to Dealer is wild. I’m trying to remember if they played for TWIABP when I saw them. I don’t think so. It was them and mwY… and gosh somebody else. Now that’s gonna bother me. That was at the masquerade in Atlanta and man that was my favorite venue. Alas it is no more. Well it kinda is. It’s in a different spot. They kept it looking the same on the inside but I liked being in that shack. It was about to fall in so I know why they moved it. Lol

So many of my favorite bands have toured/played together. It almost feels like some kind of sacred brotherhood. Brand New, mewithoutYou, Thrice, Foxing, Manchester Orchestra. mwY bowed out gracefully, we all know what happened to BN, and Thrice have stagnated creatively. It's been really cool to see Foxing step up and grab the mantle, particularly between NMG and this record. Manchester Orchestra is obviously still right up there making beautiful music as well, but Foxing are the new badasses on the block with this crazy release.

@BrishedRed wow I can get so nostalgic thinking about old favorite venues that are no more.

@onion never heard of Joe D’agostino, will check out EDIT: nvm just looked him up and he is empty country, love them.

@sowing the sacred brotherhood are all top 20 bands of all time for me. Over the years MO particularly has slowly snuck into possibly being my favorite band

nmg is a classic fs

the song and the album

ive come around on crown candy a bit recently but the other 11 honestly make a case for it being my favorite lp of the 2010s. this album rules but hitting nmg in its wake has only further emphasized that thats their masterwork

also i kinda echo that looks like nothing is not a highlight and that its vocal performance is prob the worst non dead cat performance of conors on the album, if not all around
