normie erra fans do think drift and neon are the best lol i was talking to a bunch of them recently who talk about those two were their best. genuinely blew my mind seeing that said about neon
but ig they do feature all "the things that make erra erra" to people in every song at their most shoehorned and sanded down so ig it makes sense theyre the albums for the normie fans
(before nash gets at me for throwing shade at drift that albums still dope and i like every song on it i just think pretty much all of them except hypnotist / hourglass / sleeper / continuum are somewhere between 60-70% at their full potential and its because jesse has admitted himself he was too in his head about what people expected out of an erra song, and i kinda hear that. it's his favorite album regardless tho lol so he's with you on that)

"jesse has admitted himself he was too in his head about what people expected out of an erra song"
He needs to go back to being in his head about it so that we can go back to getting some decent music from this band

I'm an outlier that doesnt like it. Most of their fanbase loves it. Their old fanbase has been replaced by the pedestrian modern "metalcore" crowd who loves anything with binary chugs and a generic pop chorus.

its funny i hoped that their fanbase woulda caught along with this since it rules and is exactly what they needed to stay fresh but they seem to have been conditioned by the half steps of their early albums with jt to think an erra album needs to sound like an erra album to be good, regardless of how well its doing those things, sadly. the normie erra fans of the world seem to prefer neon incomprehensibly but it tells me who never actually gave this a chance pretty clearly
