'They sound like fucking losers lol'

Something about that take on camgirls rubbed you the wrong way ?

Say what you will about empowerment through porn and sex work, I personally wouldn't have a problem if my girl had done some softcore porn to help make ends meet but a lot of guys find it to be a revolting dealbreaker, and not just redneck incels but otherwise left leaning empathetic well educated guys I know see any of that as being completely irreconcilable with any sort of relationship

It was actually a bit surprising to me but point is that isn't some fringe view among misogynists it seems to be the default view among guys who are otherwise fairly progressive at least every time its come up in conversation

But I don't claim to be the spokesperson for the band, that was just what I took from a short interview clip, I think their views would be a lot more nuanced than that

Anyway back to the music

the singles only hinted at the depth present on the new album, positively dissonant and beautiful journey through hell.

no band deserves it more than them

Their style is a bit more approachable than chat piles or at least they have some more approachable songs so it will be surprising if they don't

I'm not sure why chat pile blew up so much, I mean they deserve it too but did they happen to get lucky with the algorithim or was it word of mouth or fantano's review

CA is really such a lovely group of individuals with such an inventive approach to considering different aspects of all of the members' influences. It's been amazing watching them push on their boundaries and constantly challenge themselves. Very excited to see them at Damnation in November and actually talk face to face haha.

I'm currently finishing up a collage-animated/mixed media music video for bedrot that will be out in the next couple weeks! I am thrilled for that to be released of course, and am increasingly excited knowing Camgirl will give them such well-deserved momentum and a ton of new listeners. They're striking while the iron is hot and exceeding expectations, I hope everyone loves this new one too!

Awesome to hear

Speaking of which how can I hear this?

It seems to be released on spotify but the digital download from bandcamp still hasn't been released - does it wait for all of the US or the world to tick over to the official release day or something?

edit apparently they need to manually approve the release on bandcamp while spotify is automated smh

Caved in and listened on Spotify

Holy shit that was an experience

Having said that I do with they included Blood Pony and Tinted Civic even tho that would push it out to 70 min because they definitely belong on it

If this doesn't substantially increase their fanbase I'll blow up a hospital

I know it's still not everyone's or even most people's cuppa tea but it's no less accessible than daughters who blew up

And I know they're not in it for the money / recognition but it would be nice if they can at least pay their bills with all the time and energy they put into their music

Yeah it's a pretty incredible thing they pulled off when you think about... let's take this already strange blend of genres and make it somehow sexier and poppier and more au courant but also darker... and make the art pink and call it camgirl... and have a song about the olsen twins pegging each other or whatever...and somehow it works

Good first listen of the new one, bit more polished, the vocals got a little lost in the production at times maybe...but it took me 10+ listens to realise just how great this is and to learn all the lyrics ;)
