Can't get over how rad that hip hop beat in Army of Non is. Best song on here imo

I'm still not sure how much of this album I'd call industrial (the last two, probably), mostly I'd say this is groovy post-metal if anything (and I do not think it needs to be anything). But even more so it baffles me how some think it's just more of the same for Godflesh. Desaturated cover art and a kind of similar title does not mean it's Pure vol 2.

Yeah, Pure has better riffs.

Aye, probably. Also you can hear the bass proper on Pure.

As someone who loves Godflesh, this is not very good! If I wanted to listen to this album, I would just put on Songs of Love and Hate.
And stop comparing this to Pure. Two completely different albums.

People are comparing it to Pure because the band said this album explores and updates themes and ideas from it.

lol I feel where you're coming from, been there, but yeah the band/Justin did kind of make the direct comparison/connection this time around

To me, this album ecapsulates everything that makes Godflesh unique. The bleak atmosphere, use of hip-hop samples and drum machines, the heavy, groovy and sometimes droning repetitive riffs, etc. A pretty much uncategorizeable sound as their earlier material was.
I do think that everything else in between rules as well but this is what I really want to hear from Godflesh

“ If I wanted to listen to this album, I would just put on Songs of Love and Hate. “
That’s weird, the logical thing to do if you wanted to listen to this album would be to listen to this album

If you liked Hymns and Post Self you should like, is how I see this

Woah, a godflesh album that isn't a 4

At cursory glance I read that alongside a 3.9 from you rather than a 3.6 and was like LOL

If he did, that's a strange comparison.

My point being why make the same album again? His whole entire discog is unique until this.
