I understand, I feed off the salt of every comments section of every good album ever released reviewed on this site and dismissed as low effort, same-y trash. So enjoy the saltiness. The reception of this album boggles my fucking mind.

personally the reception of hail to the king boggles my mind, especially the metallica comparisons
i reckon at least 70% of people just parrot trendy sentiments they hear without thinking about why or if there's any internal logic to said sentiments
but nobody is genuinely a very silly song among silly songs and to say it's the choice cut here is equally silly unless you want silly but apparently you don't and I DON'T GET YOU

Disagree, all of the other songs are much "sillier". Nobody sounds like it could have lived on any previous A7X album. It totally fits the bill of them pushing the envelope of odd rhythms and unconventional sound without totally overdoing so, which made them so interesting to me in the first place. Hell, listen to Fiction, Gunslinger, The wicked end. They have a history of being all over the place, but they made it work. With LIBAD, not so much.

Honestly, this is the most progressive album to ever be released by a metal band this mainstream.
I'm beyond happy that A7X is giving a nod to the scene I've been specializing in the past 5 years.

I just saw there were very differing opinions on it but I was super busy last week and didn't really get to witness the swing in real time like I did with this album. I'm assuming Sleep Token did a nosedive after your review?
I still think it's rarer for people to change their mind in a positive way. Usually once someone has a preconceived notion that something is going to be shit, it's a very difficult mindset to break even if the music is better than anticipated. They might begrudgingly go from a 1 to a 2.5 or 3, but after the massive backlash against the singles and the early 1.whatever average, it's absolutely wild to see this at a 3.7 and on BNM. So many 4-5 ratings pulled this thing out of the dumpster.

"Enlighten me?"
That thread should be yikes enough to tell truths and tales.
