I've enjoyed the last 3 Muse albums a considerable amount more than Villains.

wah, all of these derogatory remarks about villains, love that album. it's no ...like clockwork, but how could you top that anyway?

agreed with sow, this band have squandered their potential for well over a decade now.

Muse are basically a parody band at this point though, let's be fair. They're the Weezer of the prog world. Doesn't mean their music is terrible now, they just don't take it seriously anymore. QOTSA are in a completely different ball game at this stage. We Are Fucking Fucked just sounds like Muse taking a stab at that particular style of music, but having fun with it.

Came back to give this another spin on a whim.

Two takeaways:

1) Ghosts is legitimately pretty beautiful

2) The "take off your clothes and take off your mask" line in Verona just made me laugh out loud

The end of We Are Fucking Fucked is mind-blowing, really don't know how to process the decisions which were made going into that

As silly as the lyrics are in Verona, I really dig the vibes of that song. Same can be said for a good chunk of songs, it's just over the top way too often and the absolute opposite of subtle.

The title track is one of the worst songs released this year, Liberation is trash & the Halloween track should be a bonus...but I quite liked the rest of it surprisingly.

Muse are better when they're ripping of Drowning Pool than they are Queen.

Verona makes me uncomfortable, but it's also kinda charming. I honestly don't know how to feel about this album, in some respects it's their most consistent album in ages, but then I realise the first 2 tracks are horrific and it's genuinely all over the place lol

I know some of y’all still hold dear the early days of this band and maybe those were some quality albums way back nearly 20 years ago but it’s time to just stop fuckin with hope. These guys have shown they are DETERMINED to make the most cringeworthy music around. It’s probably gonna get even worse
