I need to give this another spin now that it's summer. BH always sounds better when it's warm outside.

how about I try to absorb as much of it as I can in the only 15 minutes of peace and quiet in my life that exists between my job and toddler/baby mayhem

Still my favourite this year. The details, the scope, the whole tone... it's just sublime really.

Just an insanely boring package. They have far better albums than this. I've gotta listen again at some point - there are def some bangers here but just as many lulls

I love several of the individual songs here but agree the package doesn't really work, I've enjoyed songs much more when coming up in my playlist than in album context.

You've never disliked an album at first and then were like "oh wait I love this" ?

y'all give so much mid shit so much 'proper time' that it never surprises me when you end up so impressed with so much more of it

What is the actual point here? Do you think you’d also come to appreciate more out of “mid shit” if you gave it “proper time”? Is only the absolute best music worth delving into? Where does the line lie?

Edit: Your follow up kind of answered the third one but still.

Well

1. I didn't hate this, just thought it was long and samey

2. Sure you could appreciate mid shit if you give it more time, or hate it more, that's tbd

3. What music is worth delving into is your own opinion, I've loved way too many Beach House records to not give this one time

Does that answer your questions sir?

Lol see I think it's an instant eyeroll when people only explore just so they don't fit the "indie trends" and then shit talk people who do

I’m less interested in the point of exploring widely and more just in the fact that music is about emotion as much as it is “quality” and the stuff I’m most emotionally invested in is that which I’ve spent more time with. Sure I could listen to everything one time and just discard forever the stuff I didn’t immediately love but I think taking some time to invest in most of what at least somewhat interests me leads to a far higher quality experience overall. And I’m especially more likely to delve deeper into things by bands I’ve loved before and things that others (with similar taste) seem to love. Expanding horizons is always good but it’s ultimately not anywhere near my top priority.
