I generally prefer metal as an atmospheric, melodic, mystical experience; that's why this is so damn good for me. I'm fine with savage but if it's just growling behind a wall of noise like so much metal is then I'll prob dislike it

I'm excited then, because going reverse chronologically as I've been, CtS is next on-deck. I'm gonna let my appreciation for Hushed & Grim play out first though, I don't want to cut the enjoyment short. Every second of this one is stellar and I want it all to sink in.

Yap, no further listen resulted on a stepback with this one. Only improvement.

I have a few recommendations you might enjoy then. Check out:

Panopticon - Autumn Eternal (wall of sounds you occasionally but always moves back into more melodic and folk sections)

In Flames - The Jester Race (really any pre-2000 IF album will do but this one is the most mystical imo)

Soen - Lykaia

Junius - Eternal Rituals For The Accretion of Light

Behemoth - The Satanist

'This thread is one of the snarkiest I've seen in some time'

Is it? You should check more threads.

'Check Slugdge - Esoteric Malacology'

Hmm... yeah I don't know about that one. Stellar as it undoubtedly is of course.

Am I alone in thinking Gigantium is the best song here by far?
