I’m morbidly interested in exploring his other stuff due to my love of this but know it likely isn’t my vibe at all.

Yeah, I wouldn’t discount his other stuff just because it isn’t like this, he’s known for being diverse which is how this even came to be. I know most of it sounds different because he actually raps, but not everything here felt out of left field. It took the entire first song before I realized I was getting something different than expected. You can definitely skip stuff like Playaz Circle, but maybe ease into Oblivion Access and Mista Thug Isolation by listening to the Three Sided Tape stuff like they mentioned and then Bedwetter. If you’re interested at all, of course.

I would say if this is your start, move to Bedwetter, then Oblivion, then Uneven Compromise and MTI, if you keep liking what you hear keep moving down

The main hang up I have is just being a wimp and hesitant to finally pop my rap/hip hop cherry (obviously I have some respect and appreciation for the genre based on what I’ve heard through cultural immersion, but have never voluntarily listened to a full album), but thanks for the tips.

Well I will say LUM's hip hop/rap albums are a great place to start compared to most if you do!

Honestly it’s one of those things where at this point I’ve put it off for so long that I feel like I need a really good reason to finally do it. But yeah a search for “hip hop” in Genre on my RYM profile has 0 hits.
