Yeah I have to get this sometime. Never heard it, but so many positive reviews. The last time I brought an album for all the hype it was getting on this site was OK Computer. I think that worked out very well.

I don't like Undertow. Opiate's very good though, for an EP.

Tool amazes the crap out me. Maynard is such a ****ing good singer.

Ticks and Leeches is magnificent. Especially the chorus.

Mind-blowing review. Thirty times as good as my reviews.

Easily the best album I've heard since Aenima. The vocals were excellent. The guitar riffing was very unique and hard-hitting. The drums were (as is to be expected) perfect. The bass lines were very (I can't stress this enough) inventive.

I, being a bassist, have seen a long-lived pattern recently. Bad bass lines. For whatever reason, bands have been seriously slacking in this department. I can't tell you how many tabs I've read where the bassist hits 3 or 5 notes. Its disgusting. Finally, I get a CD where I hear fantastic lines. With the amazing opening line to 'The Grudge' and 'Schism' to the minimalist flang-delay riffs in the 'The Patient'. Justin Chancellor has done a fantastic job at taking over where Paul D'Amour.

This CD is a total buy. There are only two things that could have made it better. If there would have been one more song that was heavier, like Parabola. And if it wouldn't end.

they have changed and lost their edge...if u like mainstream...stick with this band. you can have your "breakthrough album" that means broke through to the pop metal side of things. It is slightly above average at best. This is a favorite of every preppy out there. they need to get back to what got them here...but, even though their first 3 albums rule, maynard is still the gay anal champ...ughhh...ewwww...lol. whatever happened to the undertow days. This Message Edited On 04.24.06This Message Edited On 04.24.06

maynard is the god of rock music... his lyrics are deep his vocals are always on... i didnt like undertow, this album showed danney carreys real abilities as a drummer.. he is my IDOL.... everythign about this album was amazing how songs slowly blended into each other.. love the base lines and the guitar riffs.. This album changed my way of appreciating music.. as far as talent goes i think adam jones should be dropped out of this band.. his solos are very ordinairy and the effects he uses can get repetitive... but the end of the day this is by far the best rock band of our time ppl realize that... its not abt rap or fucking hip hop its NOT MUSIC.... ITS ABOUT TOOL...

Yeah, slow down chief, Adam Jones is a huge part of the band, writes excellent riffs, plays with taste, and is one of the most influential yet underappreciated guitarists of the last 15 years.
It's not about solos, you know.
I wouldn't call Maynard's lyrics deep, either. They're great, but I'd say they're more 'willfully obscure.' Don't you ever get the feeling, while listening to Tool (particularly the entire Aenima album), that the band are secretly having a giggle at how all their hardcore fans are going to read meaning into every second of what they do, and every word Maynrad utters? I mean, I think sometimes they like to just screw with us.
Anyway, great band, great album. Can't wait for 10 000 Days.

yeah ive given that some thought but if you go on danney-carrey.org and click on media, theres this interview in one of the magazines that really show what these guys are like.. i mean i didnt think so but yeah they are quite sophisticated and if u study thier lyrics and read that interview, you can link a lot of things

can any one tell me which web site will let me book 10 000 days in advance

Great album. (Undertow too.)
Good review. Nice one.
Absolutely can't wait for the new album. Not alone there I suspect
They are still very much (for me) at the forefront of showing what you can do with the 'rock' genre... and yeah, I agree that sometims it feels like they're pushing back at their 'hard core' fans with a bit of a wry smile.
