His son is or was in the band so I guess it’s not as surprising as it seems at first

This has to be one of the most fully realized bands in all of metal. Everything from the music to their aesthetics fits together so well

If they continue on their current trajectory they’ll be one of my fave modern bands. Possibly even all time.

As long as they can find the right balance between order and chaos (like say ulcerate) because some of their stuff has been too chaotic for its own good and just when you think they're onto something cool they change it up, and it leaves me with blueballs

I love the chaos.

I wore myself out on bands who tried to break the record for tempo changes in one song and it lost it's impact so now I like more cohesion - their new single was the perfect balance I thought

Maximalist Scream was a bit too chaotic for its own good, but the new one has found a perfect balance agreed.

Yeah I’d mostly agree, but I think these guys are special. I don’t really desire maximum chaos / ideas bouncing around all over the place, far from it in fact. If anything I’ve moved further and further away from that since I’ve gotten older.

I love the aesthetic, the musicianship is mostly very impressive and although it definitely gets a little ‘out there’ / weird it works within the concept and actually flows remarkably well, for me.

Ulcerate are awesome, this scratches a different itch.

The drummer in this band is phenomenal but beyond that I'm not super into them. Feel like this is definitely a case of drummer carrying the load

Wanting a cohesive style is one thing, but repressing invention / creativity is another. These guys commit to an aesthetic and despite the complexity it’s flows very well for the most part, some of the transitions are quite frankly absurdly-well executed.

I don’t care for King Gizz’s latest or BTBAM or other ‘genre pic m mix’ nonsense, but this feels very different to artists like that. It actually makes sense.

That section with Kenny G and his son playing off each-other legitimately rips. I had no idea it was him.
