but I don't know where else to go....it's all good, band is obv not for everyone..I just find their albums always sound nice and crisp but nothing particularly interesting in terms of songwriting, and riffs for that matter

Haha yeah nothing is for everyone (thankfully)
For me PL is all about the leads

I think it comes down to doom elements for ppl, dragging things down. I for one can count on one hand the number of doom albums I really love..and 3 of them are by Pallbearer

Hmm this is a really good album, but personally I prefer The Plague Within and Faith Divides Us. This is just after one listen but I doubt it'll change much in the future. First five tracks are splendid, after that it kinda starts dragging a bit IMO, although Ravenghast is a very good closer. Something just doesn't sit that well with me here, and I never had that problem with the aforementioned albums. Anyway, I still don't wanna go below 4 because this is PL and they do what they do very well. Also Darker Thoughts almost warrants that rating alone.

I don't get the point of PL having bonus tracks if the total number is only 11, which is what most normal tracklists end up around. Also, Spotify and Itunes both have 11 as the total, so it's even more pointless to offer a 9 track version as a physical edition.

Yeah not mention they have a tendency to release bonus tracks that are actually better than some regular album tracks.

Well Faith is their best modern album (alongside Tragic Idol). But Obsidian could come close.
